Can aluminum molds be used in the microwave?

Aluminum molds can be used in a microwave oven provided that certain conditions are met:

  1. Before placing the aluminum mold in the microwave, remove the cover, lid, foil, etc.
  2. The food should occupy most of the bottom of the tin.
  3. Place the aluminum mold in the center of the plate in the microwave oven (if your microwave oven has a metal turntable, use a ceramic or glass plate under the aluminum mold).
  4. The aluminum mold MUST NOT come into contact with the microwave wall - the minimum distance from the microwave walls is 2 cm.
  5. Only ONE aluminum mold can be placed in the microwave at a time.

The above rules DO NOT APPLY to microwave ovens manufactured after 1983.
